All our international students must have health insurance during their stay in Estonia.\u00a0Below you will find information about insurance for both EU and non-EU\u00a0students.<\/p>\n
If you are an EU citizen, please bring your\u00a0European health insurance card<\/a>\u00a0(EHIC) or its replacement certificate to prove your eligibility for Estonian health care. You should apply for the card from the social service authorities in your home country\u00a0before arriving in Estonia.<\/p>\n Please note that EHIC is not\u00a0an alternative to travel insurance. It does not cover any private healthcare or costs such as a return flight to your homecountry or lost\/stolen property. Please find more detailed information from the\u00a0European Commission<\/a>\u00a0website.<\/p>\n A student who has been granted residence permit for study is not covered by the Estonian Health Insurance Fund. Students can come to Estonia with travel insurance but are then required to obtain proper health insurance in Estonia. You have to have an insurance contract guaranteeing that any costs related to your medical treatment as a result of illness or injury during your stay in Estonia will be met.<\/p>\n Non-EU students should follow the requirements of the\u00a0Estonian Police and Border Guard Board<\/a> and obtain a medical insurance in Estonia for the same period as the temporary residence permit is valid.<\/p>\n Arrange your insurance contact\u00a0within two months\u00a0of your arrival to Estonia. Please present the contract to the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
